Some questions about the buyout packet

I've been reading the buyout packet closely tonight and here are some questions:

1) Will unused vacation days be compensated, in addition to the buyout plan?

2) A poster over on the jobs blog said the way the buyout works is the company creates essentially a new pension plan with the money they give you to leave. It is NOT cash. If you draw from it, you'll have some not-so-minor tax implications (unless you're over 55). Read the original post on the jobs blog, and then maybe talk to your manager, and hopefully some of our Guild leaders can also help clear up the specifics.
