Circulation at big newspapers across the country continued to tank in the six months leading up to Sept. 30, including circulation at The Baltimore Sun, according to this staff written story today.
Today also brought news that the nonprofit Christian Science Monitor -- a paper with an award-winning journalistic history -- will stop publishing its print edition in April. It only publishes Monday through Friday. Instead, it will publish a Sunday magazine. Check out the NY Times story for all the details.
It's not fair to compare the Monitor to for-profit papers, the article points out. But the Monitor management does note, in the article, that stopping the publication of the print version will enable them to keep their eight foreign bureaus open.
