New York Times to its Metro section: "Bye-Bye"

The Baltimore Sun was ahead of the curve this time around. We merged our metro news section into the A/front section last month.

Today, the NY Times announced they'll be doing the same with their metro report for New York. The paper claims it won't be giving readers less news. But the section shuffle is about saving on costs of running presses to print an extra section.

Here's the story that the Times did today on the news. Fortunately, for now, it seems that layoffs/buyouts are not a part of the section shuffle at the Times.

I've been hunting around trying to find the news story that The Sun did when the "reinvention" was announced weeks ago, but no luck. If anyone finds it and can post a link to it, please do so in the comments below. Thanks!

UPDATE, Sat. Sept. 6: I still can't seem to find an actual Baltimore Sun news article that covered the changes at the paper and the economic/financial reasons behind those changes last month.

But back to the dilemma at hand: I can't seem to find an actual Sun news story that explains this change to readers and approaches it from the business perspective that the NY Times story did. I'm feeling really stupid here. Did I miss it? If you can track it down, please post in the comments. It would be nice to keep an archive of major stories handy...perhaps in one of the sidebars.
