Baltimore Sun Media Group's chief financial officer Erik Smist is leaving to be director of finance and administration at Johns Hopkins Press, according to an all-staff email today from Sun Publisher Tim Ryan. Mr. Smist's last day is Monday.

Mr. Smist had been with BSMG since 1986. Management will be seeking a replacement, according to Mr. Ryan's email. Good luck, Mr. Smist.

Movers & Shakers will be an occasional news blurb covering top personnel changes at The Baltimore Sun Media Group.

In this inaugural edition, we report on a transition at the "b", The Baltimore Sun Media Group's free daily tabloid launched earlier this year. The publication's very first general manager, Brad Howard, appears to not be connected to the enterprise any longer. His name is no longer listed as a contact on the website or in the print pub. Sources report he went to another media entity in Baltimore.

Mr. Howard helped launch the "b" several months ago. He is mentioned in several online locations that have reported on the "b," including this blog, this Citypaper article, and this one in the Examiner.
