Bob Blau had been at the Sun nearly four years and guided some great journalism into the newspaper. (Check out his official bio at the Sun's Website.) The guy loves journalism, plain and simple. We wish him much luck in his future endeavors. There was no word on his future plans.
In his own humble and collegial words, here's a snippet from Bob's email to staff today:
Those of you now charged with navigating The Sun’s future course should know that you are among the best in the business. You have won more prizes than I can keep track of. You have outhustled and outsmarted the competition with a rare combination of scrappiness and sophistication.In emails from Editor Tim Franklin and Publisher Tim Ryan, it was not immediately clear if Baltimore Sun Media Group management will re-fill the managing editor position, or simply eliminate it entirely. The two deputy managing editors who reported to Bob -- Marcia Myers and Paul Moore -- will now report to Tim Franklin.
